Terms of Use
Last updated October 30, 2026
These terms apply to the SoCal Bluewater website and app. By using either, you agree to them.
Not for navigation. You're the skipper.
Maps, water temperatures, forecasts, buoy readings, tides, distances, spot positions, scores, trip plans, fuel estimates and boundary lines are estimates from public data and other anglers. They can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Don't use the website or the app for navigation, or as your only source for weather and safety decisions. Check official National Weather Service forecasts and U.S. Coast Guard notices, carry proper charts and safety gear, and decide for yourself whether conditions are safe. Fishing and boating are dangerous, and you take that risk.
Rules and licenses
You're responsible for following fishing and boating rules, includingCalifornia (CDFW) regulations, federal rules, marine protected areas, and Mexican (CONAPESCA) rules and licenses in Mexican waters. Our articles are general information, not legal advice.
What you post in the app
You keep ownership of your logs and photos. You give us permission to use them to run and improve the service, including community features, in line with our Privacy Policy. Don't post anything false, offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening, or anyone else's private information. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You can report or block anyone in the app. We review reports within 24 hours and remove content and accounts that break these rules.
Pro subscription
Pro is $49.99 a year or $6.99 a month (or the local prices shown in the app), billed to your Apple ID or Google Play account. It renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers; if you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly price is charged when it ends. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription. On iOS, Apple'sstandard license agreement also applies.
Our content
The website's articles, maps, design and the app are owned by SoCal Bluewater. You're welcome to link to any page and quote short parts with a link back. Please don't copy, scrape or republish the site, its data or the app's data in bulk, or use them to build a competing service.
Ocean and weather data come from public sources, credited where shown, including NOAA (NASA JPL MUR sea surface temperature via NOAA ERDDAP, National Weather Service, National Data Buoy Center, Tides and Currents, GFS and ETOPO1) and the National Hurricane Center.
No warranty
The website and app are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for lost catches, fuel, time, damage or injury from using them.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws of California.
